George Mason University Peterson Family Health Sciences Hall

This five-story, 14,900 SQM academic and research building houses laboratories, classrooms, offices, a two-story atrium and auditorium style classrooms with large column free areas. The framing system is composite steel and was designed with vibration controls for sensitive equipment. The building was designed and built to achieve LEED Silver certification. Its green roof includes mechanical penthouses. The exterior facade is a combination of curtainwalls with deep horizontal solar shading, brick and captured masonry assemblies. The project also includes a two-story structure that is connected to the main building.

This project has also garnered the following awards: Fairfax County James M. Scott Exceptional Design Honor Award for Institutional and the NAIOP Northern Virginia Award of Merit for Buildings Build-to-Suit Institutional Facility $30M & Above.
